Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Lagos Hustle (the "Game") uses, by Emmanuel Ariyo (Ememzyvisuals). We collect as little as possible. We do not ask for your real name, email, phone number or location, and we do not sell your information.

1. Saved on your device

Your progress (creator name and look, money, items, stats, settings) is saved in your browser's local storage. Songs you import are saved in your browser's storage (IndexedDB) on your device only and are never uploaded. A service worker stores game files so the Game can work offline. You can delete all of this by clearing the site data in your browser.

2. Leaderboard

When you finish a run while online, the Game sends to our leaderboard server: a random player ID created on your device, your creator name, and your game totals (such as views, followers, likes, best run, playtime and distance). Your creator name and scores are shown publicly on the leaderboard. The data is stored with Upstash (a database service) through our hosting on Vercel. Choose a creator name that does not identify you if you prefer to stay anonymous. To have your entry removed, contact us with your creator name.

2a. Visit counter

When the Game opens, and when you start a game, it tells our own server so we can count visits and players. It sends the random player ID created on your device and the page that linked you here; the server also sees your browser type (to tell phones from computers and which app you came from). The player ID is only added to an anonymous counter that cannot be read back, so we see totals, not people. No name, location or cookies are used for this.

3. Usage statistics (optional)

If, and only if, you turn on "Usage statistics" in Settings, the Game uses Google Analytics 4 to count anonymous events such as levels started and finished. Google may process technical data such as your IP address, device and browser type under Google's Privacy Policy. You can turn it off at any time in Settings.

4. Hosting, radio and links

Our host (Vercel) receives standard technical request data, such as IP address and browser type, when the Game loads, as any website host does. If you play a radio station, your device connects directly to that station's stream provider, which may log your request under its own policy. Links to X or other sites follow those sites' policies.

4a. Naija Indie play counter

The Game loads a small play counter from Naija Indie (indiegames.ng), the Nigerian indie game directory where Lagos Hustle is listed. It counts plays, once per player per day, so the listing can show weekly plays. Naija Indie states that it does not collect anything about players. As with any website, your browser's request to indiegames.ng includes standard technical data such as IP address and browser type, handled under Naija Indie's own policy.

5. Sharing your score

The share card is created on your device. Nothing is posted anywhere unless you choose to share it.

6. Children

The Game is for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The leaderboard name is the only text shown publicly; please do not use a real name or personal details.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 or the GDPR), you may ask to access or delete leaderboard data linked to your player ID. Contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time. Everything else is on your device and in your control.

8. Security

Server keys are kept in secure environment settings, never in the Game's code, and connections use HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we store to a minimum.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest version.
